Women live longer than men — with the result that they face much greater longevity risk–the danger of outliving their assets and experiencing poverty in old age.

In this video, retirement expert Richard Johnson of The Urban Institute discusses some of the critical risks facing women in old age. It’s sobering, but good food for thought for women and men who want to plan ahead. His comments also underscore the need for smart, compassionate policy on Social Security, Medicare and long-term care insurance.
