My new book, The Hard Times Guide to Retirement Security,” will be in bookstores and available for sale online early next month! I hope you’ll check it out by downloading a free chapter, titled “How Working Longer Helps.” This chapter explains how working even a few years beyond what you may have planned can pay a surprisingly large bonus in retirement security through improved Social Security benefits, more years of retirement account contributions and fewer years of drawing down savings. Staying on the job a few additional years can boost your income in retirement by one-third or more.
I wrote The Hard Times Guide to Retirement Security to give Baby Boomers the first examination of retirement issues in the new post-crash economy. As a journalist covering retirement security issues, I wanted to show how strategies for money, work and living can be interwoven and leveraged for retirement security–even in the Great Recession. I also hope to help readers boost their retirement I.Q.s by showcasing the best thinking I’ve been able to find in my reporting on retirement and aging. Click here to learn more about the book.
