Millions of older Americans are struggling to launch new careers as they cast aside traditional retirement.

Civic Ventures, a non-profit think tank, has taken the lead in advocating that these second careers need to combine “passion, purpose and a paycheck,” and the group is offering an online seminar later this month that can help you figure out how to pull it off via encore careers in fields like health care, education, non-profits, the environment or government.

The two-week seminar starts on October 19th, and carries a $95 fee. Faculty will include:

– Marc Freedman, author of “Encore: Finding Work that Matters in the Second Half of Life,” and CEO of Civic Ventures;

–Marci Alboher, author of “One Person/Multiple Careers, VP of Civic Ventures, and former NYT Shifting Careers columnist and blogger;

–Suzanne Braun Levine, author of “Fifty is the New Fifty” and “Inventing the Rest of Our Lives”;

–David Bornstein, author “How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas”, “The Price of a Dream: The Story of the Grameen Bank, and Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know”.

–Lester Strong, CEO of Experience Corps
