Six of the top 30 fastest-growing job categories through 2018 will be in the health care industry, according to a federal government forecast. The fast-growth jobs include nurses, home health aids and medical assistants,  according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Teaching jobs at the elementary school and post-secondary level also made the top 30 list.

The BLS analysis of job growth from 2008-2018 is in line with other recent research projecting job opportunities for older workers; check out our jobs resource page, and the forecast for 50+ workers.

BLS forecasts that total employment will rise by  by 15.3 million, or 10.1 percent, during the 2008-18 period. The projections also show an aging and more racially and ethnically diverse labor force, and that more than half of the new jobs will be in professional and service occupations. Occupations where a post-secondary degree or award is usually required are expected to account for one-third of total job openings during the projection period.

Here’s the list of the top 30 fastest-growing occupations, ranked from fastest to slowest growth.
